Healing is not for everyone

The self-healing process will never begin when the mind is under stress and negative emotions.

The self-healing process is slow and requires peace of mind, releasing destructive emotions and replacing them with constructive, supportive thoughts, and this takes time.

We live in very interesting times, when the knowledge about how important a role our mind plays in healing is being unfolding before our eyes.

Modern sciences including psychology, total biology, quantum physics “discover” the role of the mind in restoring our body to balance, in fact this knowledge has been described and used in Ayurveda for thousands of years.  However, with the development of traditional medicine, it was almost completely drowned out by academic medicine.

Body, mind and soul were completely separated, and the ‘treatment’ has become solely focused on the body.

For instance, when an organ does not function properly, e.g. the liver, the doctor will select appropriate medications to suppress the symptoms and, if possible, restore the organ’s original functioning. In Ayurveda, however, the body inextricably reflects what is happening in our mind and what emotions it is experiencing. The liver is an organ that, in addition to a huge number of physiological tasks, also filters emotions, including anger, anger and frustration.

Each of us experiences negative emotions at some point in our lives and there is nothing wrong with that, it’s human nature. Imbalance begins when negative emotions become everyday occurrences and overwhelm positive emotions such as joy and a sense of fulfilment. When negative emotions begin to torment us, the composition of our blood immediately deteriorates. This is the best proof that it is impossible to separate emotions, the mind from the body, because it is the mind that manages the body, and not the other way around.

Understanding this simple sentence gives the foundation to begin the healing process.

The state of mind is reflected in the body

Depending on the stage of imbalance (in Ayurveda we are not talking about disease but loss of balance), the therapy includes work on the mind in the form of meditation, mindfulness, prayer, various relaxation methods, an individually selected diet and herbs. One of the most powerful remedies to balance all three doshas is Triphala.

If a patient is dealing with significant disorders such as cancer, I know from my experience that it is necessary to introduce holistic therapy to bring the body and mind into balance.

So why does self-treatment not always work in some cases?

This is a topic that took me 20 years to understand! Literally. I come from a family where cancer took many members of my family, including my Mum. At the age of 20, I was diagnosed with cancer. After the surgical treatment, I recovered – or so I thought. Since then, learning more about cancer, how to prevent it and treat it effectively has become an integral part of my life. My library probably contains every book on this subject. In most of these books, the greatest emphasis is placed on diet, and much less is said about emotions, traumas, and blockages in the body.

Today we know that, for example, the Gerson diet works wonders and reverses cancer. Following the regime diet involve detoxifications and preparing fresh meals and juices several times a day which can be very time-consuming. Therefore, before deciding whether we want to use it, we must know whether we will physically be able to cope with all the responsibilities and whether we will have the support of others.

In my case, it was impossible, having a small child and limited family support, I knew that I would not be able to cope with this challenge. It would be just impossible to look after a child and prepare several meals.

Ayurveda has completely transformed my life

I discovered Ayurveda to supplement my knowledge and completely re-evaluate what I thought about cancer. In my case, the disease began to progress so dramatically that I had to decide on oncological treatment immediately.

At that moment, my mind was not ready for healing. My psyche was too weak. I was plagued by very negative emotions and enormous stress.

In the case of patients whose cancer progresses very quickly and whose minds are not at the stage of healing, focusing solely on the use of natural methods may be very risky. Without quick intervention, I probably wouldn’t be here today.

Chemo suppresses the symptoms, but to regain health it is necessary to find and heal the cause of the loss of life force. Oncological treatment can be compared to draining a flooded basement at home. Chemicals can help dry the basement, but if we don’t fix the leaking roof – and these are our thought processes, traumas, eating habits, repressed emotions – then water will slowly start to accumulate back in the basement. Chemotherapy destroys both the healthy and unhealthy cells, but sometimes in order to survive, we have to take steps that do not fully agree with our beliefs. At this point I understand that I had to go this route.

Thanks to my experience, I understood that traditional medicine can be wonderfully supported by Ayurveda to help patients minimize the side effects of chemotherapy and restore balance in the body as quickly as possible. More importantly, Ayurveda in this process allows you to find the cause and strengthens the body both physically and mentally, giving you a chance for full recovery, rather than just drowning out the symptoms.

During my 7-month therapy, I supported myself with Marmapuncture, which I will write more about in a separate blog, mind work, pranayama, a specially selected diet, and meditation. The results amazed doctors from the very beginning, I had no side effects during my treatment.

Introducing Ayurveda during chemotherapy protects the organs, helps the body detoxify, unblocks the mind and changes the thought processes that have led us to the place where we need to change something to regain balance.

It is a difficult, often lonely path that leads to rebuilding the body and mind anew, pure and in harmony with nature. However, it is a journey worth embarking on to live without the fear that the disease may return. It is a journey that gives you tools to protect your health and free yourself from everything that does not serve you.
